Lionel Delebarre has been working in the French TV and Film industry as an editor for 15 years. He has cut numerous documentaries, shorts, big TV shows and others. His first filmmaking experience was Hors-champ ("Out-of-frame"), produced in 2005. He loves fiction, in all of its aspects. Whether it is a book, a videogame, history, mythology, there are many ways to tell a story. In his opinion, “Filmmaking is like telling a story and expressing yourself with pictures and sounds.”.
He feels greatly rewarded by the people he met during his professional career, they have made him grow, both as a director and as a person. Lionel took an editing learning course and learned most of his filmmaking abilities by watching the pictures and listening to the sounds he got during his editor’s career.
In his most recent film, Claire & Bruno, he felt challenged by the fact that
he was the director and the producer at the same time. Due to the film’s nature, he felt unsure if he was able to get the tone right. Nonetheless, Lionel loves editing and was fascinated by the editing process of this film. He clarifies that he loves editing and seeing film take shape in the editing room is something magical that never gets old.
His latest movie is called Claire & Bruno: a story of love and fresh meat. It depicts a couple going on a vacation to mend fences with each other. Just in time: the world is coming to an end.
